The Emerald Grotto

There are daily boat excursions of one-hour which leave Amalfi pier and take guests to the Emerald Grotto.
Ferry cruises leave daily from 9am, on the hour with the last boat at 2.30pm as the grotto closes at 3pm during October.

To the left of Amalfi’s cathedral porch, these magnificent Moorish-style cloisters, were built in 1266 to house the tombs of Amalfi’s prominent citizens; 120 marble columns support a series of tall, slender Arabic arches around a central garden.

This pleasant and easy walk leads to one of the landmarks of Amalfi: the walls of the Dukedom of Amalfi and the Torre dello Ziro, one of the many towers dotted along the coastline which was used to spot the approach of Saracen ships.
